US court excludes some evidence from case against Russian Vladislav Klushin

A US court has excluded some evidence from the case against Russian citizen Vladislav Klyushin, who is accused of insider trading, his lawyer Maxim Nemtsev told RIA Novosti.

“Some of the motions have been granted, some have not. Another hearing will be held next Thursday, where expert testimony is expected,” Nemtsev said.

The lawyer did not specify what evidence had been challenged and what would remain in the case. He noted that the jury trial will start on 30 January.

Russia’s Klyushin was arrested in Switzerland at the request of the United States, where he is accused of insider trading in securities based on stolen and non-public information involving several accomplices. According to the US embassy in Bern, the case involves “tens of millions of insider trades”. Klushin is the founder of M13, a company that specialises in information technology in the field of media monitoring. Klushin has been extradited from Switzerland to the United States. He pleads not guilty.
