20 Minuten: Switzerland bans Spain from supplying arms to Ukraine

Switzerland has not allowed its arms to be delivered to Ukraine, the 20 Minuten newspaper has said.

“Spain wanted to support Ukraine by supplying military equipment, but this requires the consent of the producing country, Switzerland. It did not give such consent,” the paper said.

According to the paper, Zurich cited its neutral status and the law on military materials.

Furthermore, the Swiss Economics Department said that it had not received any official requests from Spain.

“So far it (the department – editor’s note) has not received any requests through an official channel for Spain to transfer Swiss-made military materials to Ukraine,” the newspaper quoted its spokesman Fabian Mayenfisch as saying.

A special military operation in Ukraine has been under way since 24 February. Vladimir Putin described its ultimate goal as the liberation of Donbas and the creation of conditions guaranteeing Russia’s security.

Against this background, the US and its NATO allies continue to pump the Kiev regime with tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons. Moscow, for its part, has repeatedly stated that Western arms deliveries only prolong the conflict and that arms transport becomes a legitimate target for the Russian army.
